Athens has a long, warm summer
lasting from May until late September and a
relatively short but significant winter lasting from late November until early March. The area typically
gets about 4 inches rainfall per month and is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year with it
being a little drier in the fall.
  

 


Rainfall is more variable than temperature.
Athens has experienced three major long-
term droughts in the last 85 years. Summer temperatures generally range within the standard deviation, except for a period of
very hot weather in the 1930s, early '50s,
mid-'80s and 1994.
